Upcoming Book Reflects Our Commitment to Better Dry Eye Care

That's why we're excited to share that our optometrist, Dr Shaina Zheng, has written her first book, The Dry Eye Imperative, which is scheduled for publication this September.

More Than Just "Dry Eyes"

Dry eye disease is one of the most common conditions seen in optometry, yet it is often misunderstood.

Many people assume dry eye simply means occasionally needing eye drops. In reality, it is a chronic condition that can affect comfort, vision, work, driving, reading, contact lens wear, and overall quality of life.

For many patients, the symptoms can be frustrating, persistent, and difficult to explain.

That is why improving the understanding and management of dry eye has become such an important focus for our practice.

Why Write a Book?

Over many years of caring for patients with dry eye, Dr Zheng recognised that while treatments continue to advance, many clinicians still lack confidence in diagnosing and managing the condition.

The Dry Eye Imperative was written to help bridge that gap.

Rather than being a textbook, the book encourages clinicians to adopt a practical, patient-centred approach to dry eye care. It focuses not only on clinical knowledge but also on communication, understanding the patient's experience, and building confidence in managing dry eye in everyday practice.

The goal is simple: if more clinicians feel confident managing dry eye, more patients will receive the care and support they deserve.
