Eyecare Plus Mermaid Beach is the first optometrist in Australia to offer Inmode Envision Dry Eye Treatment and is the only practice on the Gold Coast to offer this service.
Inmode Envision treats the cause of the dry eye, not only the symptoms. It combines Bipolar Radiofrequency technology and Intense Pulse Light to treat Meibomian Gland Dysfunction, the most common cause of Dry Eyes.
What is Inmode Envision Dry Eye Treatment?
Dry Eye disease is a chronic condition that affects millions of Australians. 85% of Dry Eye is caused by Meibomian Gland Dysfunction (MGD), and is a major cause of ocular discomfort. In Australia, 77% have experienced dry eye symptoms, yet many do not have a clear understanding of the signs, symptoms or causes.
Inmode Envision Dry Eye Treatment is the new in-office standard, revolutionising ocular care procedures for the treatment of meibomian gland dysfunction and the symptoms of dry eyes. This comprehensive, non-surgical ophthalmic device, deploys multiple programmable modalities which work synergistically to deliver precision ocular treatments:
-
Forma-I: Bipolar Radiofrequency (RF)
-
Lumecca-I: Intense Pulsed Light (IPL)
Inmode Envision’s small-size applicators and precise depth control allow for safe and highly efficacious procedures in the small, delicate subdermal layers of the periorbital region. With Inmode Envision, practitioners deliver cutting edge technologies to improve patient vision and quality of life.
The Inmode Envision Dry Eye Treatment can help relieve symptoms associated with meibomian gland dysfunction, blepharitis, ocular rosacea, styes, chalazion and dry eyes.
How does Inmode Envision Dry Eye Treatment work?
The Inmode Envision Dry Eye Treatments works by combining Forma-I, which uses Bipolar Radiofrequency (RF) and Lumecca-I which uses Intensed Pulsed Light (IPL) to treat the underlying cause of dry eyes, not just the symptoms.
Forma-I: Bipolar Radiofrequency (RF)
Forma-I addresses the symptoms of dry eye disease caused by Meibomian Gland Dysfunction (MGD). It is intended for use in the periorbital area and upper and lower lids, using controlled dermal heating to soften the oils blocking the meibomian glands and relieve inflammation. Forma-I is TGA listed for the treatment of symptoms of Dry Eye Disease due to Meibomian Gland Dysfunction. Designed for ocular safety, the small-size applicator, precision RF depth control, and epidermal temperature monitoring with continuous feedback, ensure Forma-I is a safe alternative for millions of dry eye sufferers.
How does Forma-I work?
Forma-I feels like a warm massage in the eye area, improving blood circulation. By directly treating the periorbital region and eyelids, Forma-I can help you achieve more defined characteristics while alleviating other issues such as red, burning, itchy eyes. Heat is delivered during the procedure to ‘melt’ the oils clogging your glands, and pressure from the movement of the applicator allow for the oils to be expressed.
Lumecca-I: Intense Pulsed Light (IPL)
Lumecca-I is TGA listed for the treatment of pigmented and vascular lesions. Lumecca, with the Lumecca-I adaptor, delivers precise, targeted, spot-size IPL procedures to treat inflammatory conditions in smaller zones, including periorbital area. Optimised for skin tones I-IV, Lumecca was developed with an advanced xenon flash lamp producing 40% of total pulse energy in the 500-600 nm range. IPL energy penetrates the skin and is selectively absorbed by lesion chromophores (melanin or hemoglobin). The absorbed energy is converted into heat, selectively coagulating the lesions, which fade a few weeks following the treatment. IPL has been shown in clinical studies to have a positive effect on patients with MGD and dry eyes, by interrupting the dry eye inflammation cycle and reducing the osmolarity of the tear film to normal levels.
