Q. What is a Dry Eye Assessment?

 

A. A dry eye assessment is a comprehensive analysis of your eyes to determine the type of dry eyes you have, the severity of your dry eyes and a tailored treatment plan for your dry eyes. Our practice is unique as we offer over 5 different advanced in practice treatments that allows us to tailor our treatments for the individual. Your personal dry eye treatment plan includes a recommendation on the most suitable advanced in practice dry eye treatment for you as well as at home treatments to complement and help support the advanced treatments we use in our practice.

 

Q. Do I need a Dry Eye Assessment if I have already had one elsewhere?

A. Yes, at Eyecare Plus Mermaid Beach, our optometrists will need to conduct their own dry eye assessment to determine the type of dry eye you have and recommend the most tailored treatment option for you based on the latest technology we offer. Our practice is unique as we offer over 5 different advanced in practice treatments that allows us to tailor our treatments for the individual. Our optometrists are unable to start treatment for your dry eyes until they have done a dry eye assessment. The fee for a dry eye assessment is $160 out of pocket.

 

Q. I want to talk about my dry eyes, will I be charged a fee?

A. Our optometrists recommend a dry eye assessment to do a comprehensive check of your dry eyes and this will allow them to give you tailored advice to help improve your dry eye. This costs $160 out of pocket. If you would like a comprehensive eye test, that appointment is bulk billed, except for any scans that you may require. There are fees associated with some of the advanced scans we perform. 

 

Q. Which dry eye treatment is suitable for me?

 

A. To determine which treatment is most suitable for you, we would need to book you in with our optometrist for a dry eye assessment. In this consultation, they will assess your eyes and will recommend which advanced in practice treatment is suited for your type of dry eyes, as well as recommendations for any additional at home treatments that can complement the advanced treatments we do in our practice. 

 

Q. Can I book in for a dry eye treatment without a dry eye assessment?

  

A. If you are a new patient, before we can book you in for a treatment, we require you to book in a dry eye assessment with our optometrist to determine the type of dry eyes you have and the severity. This allows our optometrist to recommend the most appropriate dry eye treatment for your eyes. The dry eye assessment costs $160 out of pocket.
