Innovation in Dry Eye Care: Bringing the Latest Treatments to Our Patients

ree

At Eyecare Plus Mermaid Beach, we understand how much dry eye symptoms can impact daily life from that persistent gritty feeling to fluctuating vision or sensitivity that makes everyday tasks uncomfortable. For many people, dry eye isn’t just a small irritation. It’s a condition that affects focus, wellbeing, and confidence.

That’s why our team is committed to leading the way in innovation and education. Recently, our Optometrist and Vice President of the Dry Eye Society, Shaina Zheng, presented at the OSO & Dry Eye Society Workshop, sharing insights and guiding colleagues through the latest advances in dry eye management.

A Hands-On Approach to Learning and Leadership

The event brought together eye care professionals from across Australia to collaborate, share clinical experiences, and explore emerging treatments.

During the workshop, Shaina presented alongside industry colleagues and facilitated hands-on demonstrations of new technologies, including ZEST, Rinsada, IPL (Intense Pulsed Light), LLLT (Low-Level Light Therapy), RF (Radiofrequency), and Rexon-Eye.

Each of these treatments targets the root causes of dry eye, such as poor oil gland function, eyelid inflammation, or blocked glands, helping patients achieve lasting comfort and clearer vision.

“Every patient’s dry eye journey is different,” says Shaina. “By combining new technology with personalised care, we can finally move beyond temporary relief and help patients experience real, lasting improvement.”

Collaboration That Elevates Care

The workshop was a fantastic opportunity for clinicians to learn directly from experts, experience the technology first-hand, and share strategies that make a real difference in practice.

A huge thank you to Good Optical Services for supporting the event and providing access to ZEST and Rinsada, allowing attendees to get hands-on with these innovations.

Events like this strengthen the profession and ultimately, they strengthen patient care.
