Continuing to Elevate Dry Eye Care at Eyecare Plus Mermaid Beach

At Eyecare Plus Mermaid Beach, we believe exceptional dry eye care requires ongoing learning, collaboration, and leadership within the profession.

On 24 February, our Lead Dry Eye Optometrist Shaina Zheng, Vice President of the Dry Eye Society, attended the Dry Eye Society’s Immunology, IPL & Grand Rounds event alongside our Senior Clinical Optometrist, Alicia Lou.

It was an inspiring and knowledge-rich evening dedicated to advancing dry eye management across Australia.

Sharing Expertise at a National Level

In addition to attending the educational sessions, Shaina contributed to a live Questions and Answers panel, sharing practical insights from her experience in dry eye practice.

The panel discussions covered:

  • Real-world dry eye case management

  • Integrating immunology principles into treatment plans

  • IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) therapy in clinical practice

  • Managing complex or long-standing dry eye cases

Why This Matters for Our Patients

Dry eye disease is often more complex than it first appears. It can affect comfort, concentration, visual clarity, and overall quality of life.

By actively participating in national professional forums and contributing to them, our team ensures that patients at Eyecare Plus Mermaid Beach receive care informed by:

  • The latest research

  • Shared clinical experience

  • Advanced treatment approaches

  • Evidence-based decision making

Continuous professional development and collaboration mean we are constantly refining how we diagnose, manage, and support long-term eye comfort.

Committed to Raising the Standard of Care

The Dry Eye Society continues to build momentum, with its official launch in Melbourne next month. Strengthening this professional network helps raise the standard of dry eye care nationally, something we are proud to be part of.

For our patients, this means confidence that your eye health is supported not only by experienced clinicians, but by an active, collaborative professional community dedicated to improving outcomes.

If you are experiencing symptoms such as dryness, irritation, fluctuating vision, or discomfort, we would love to help.

Your comfort matters and we are committed to supporting your long-term eye health with evidence-based, collaborative care.
